3 things we loved at NFMT

Three things we loved at NFMT

The Intellis team is back in NYC after spending time in Baltimore at the National Facility Management and Technology Conference (NFMT)

It was a pleasure to connect and reconnect with friends and colleagues in Facility Management from across the country. Sharing our passion and enthusiasm for creating more innovative building operations and performance was the highlight.

Facility management conferences are an excellent way to remain updated on the latest developments, trends, and products in the building management industry. In addition, they are vital for gaining knowledge from industry thought leaders to propel our organization into the future.

The National Facilities Management and Technology Conference (NFMT) was held in Baltimore from March 29-31, 2022. The expo brought together subject matter experts and thought leaders from across the industry.

One thing is clear: it's an exciting time to be in Facility Management! At Intellis, we are ready to continue bringing innovation to Facility Management (FM) and help it grow into a genuinely transformational industry.

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Built Environment

Artificial Intelligence technologies are making a significant impact on society and the facilities management industry. There are so many ways FMs can leverage current AI capabilities to increase contributions to revenue and efficiency in facilities management.

AI has the potential to increase the power and agility of buildings. By leveraging the collected data from meters, utilities, BMSs, sensors, and connected equipment—to automatically respond to changing conditions in the weather, occupancy, and equipment performance so that owners and operators of buildings can optimize energy savings and increase comfort.

In addition, AI enables facilities to become more responsive to the rapidly changing demands of tenants, such as sustainability goals, comfort requests, office layouts, and technology-driven amenities.

2. Facility Condition Assessment for Capital Planning

Not surprisingly, the importance of Facility Condition Assessment in the Capital Planning process was a hot topic at the show this year. As discussed elsewhere on the blog, performing regular Facility Condition Assessments is critical for accurate capital planning. Maintaining safe and adequate facilities relies on a thorough condition assessment strategy, but an FCA is more than a simple building inspection. Facility executives and managers often oversee multiple buildings that vary by age, design, construction methods and materials, and building codes from working with our clients.

In performing an FCA for capital planning purposes, it is essential to understand the whole system so that managers can make informed decisions about where capital investment will have the most impact. Therefore, we advise our clients to formulate an FCA strategy that incorporates walk-through inspections and mathematical modeling, which provides a baseline that empowers organizations to complete tasks and facilitate capital planning.

By ensuring physical asset longevity, returns on equipment expenditure are maximized. Therefore, determining the vitality and lifecycle of your assets is essential. Our FOUNDATION Solution employs an FCA strategy that measures critical metrics in your facilities, such as physicality, performance, probability, and productivity.

This comprehensive data will help you better determine the vitality of equipment and ensure that you have the best insights to make your capital investments in physical assets count!
