Practical AI Applications in Facility Assessment and Capital Planning

August 5, 2026

11:15 AM

As facility teams face increasing pressure to do more with limited resources, artificial intelligence is emerging as a practical tool to improve the efficiency, consistency, and impact of facility assessments and capital planning. This session will focus on how AI can be applied today — not as a future concept, but as a set of real, usable capabilities that enhance existing workflows.

Through real-world examples, this presentation will demonstrate how computer vision can accelerate field inspections and improve data quality, how automation can reduce manual effort in data processing and reporting, and how thoughtful user interface design can make complex facility data more accessible to decision-makers. The session will also explore the role of video and visual communication in strengthening stakeholder understanding and supporting capital planning discussions.

Designed for facility and capital planning professionals, this session emphasizes practical implementation, including where to start, how to integrate AI into current processes, and how to avoid common missteps. Attendees will leave with actionable ideas to improve assessment execution, strengthen planning outcomes, and better align facility data with strategic decision-making.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify practical AI use cases that can be applied immediately within facility assessment workflows.

  • Understand how computer vision and automation can improve data quality and reduce manual effort.

  • Evaluate approaches to integrating AI into existing capital planning processes without disruption.

  • Recognize effective methods for communicating facility data and capital needs using modern visualization tools.

Why this session matters

School districts and facilities teams are under pressure to make better capital decisions with limited time, rising costs, and disconnected data. This session shows how practical AI can help teams improve assessment quality, reduce manual effort, and connect facility data more directly to planning and budget decisions.
